Rukmani vivah ki Katha.

Rukmani Vivah," or the marriage of Rukmani, is a significant episode from Hindu mythology, particularly within the context of the epic Mahabharata and various Puranas. Rukmani, also known as Rukmini, is revered as an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and is the principal wife of Lord Krishna, who is considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Rukmani was the daughter of Bhishmaka, the king of Vidarbha. From an early age, she was deeply devoted to Krishna, having heard of his divine qualities and heroic deeds. Despite her profound love and devotion for Krishna, her brother Rukmi, a staunch adversary of Krishna, planned to marry her off to Shishupala, the crown prince of Chedi, who was not only a powerful king but also a sworn enemy of Krishna. Rukmani, determined to marry Krishna and no one else, sent a secret letter to him through a trusted Brahmin, expressing her love and imploring him to rescue her from this unwanted marriage.

Krishna, upon receiving Rukmani's heartfelt plea, immediately set out for Vidarbha with his brother Balarama. On the day of the wedding, Rukmani went to the temple of Goddess Parvati to pray, as was the custom before the marriage rituals. It was there that Krishna, in a daring act of valor, abducted Rukmani, sweeping her off her feet and carrying her away in his chariot. This act of abduction was not just a display of Krishna's love but also a significant moment of divine intervention, demonstrating his readiness to protect and uphold the wishes of his true devotees.

Rukmi, infuriated by this turn of events, chased after Krishna but was defeated in the ensuing battle. Although Krishna spared Rukmi's life at Rukmani's request, he humiliated him by shaving half of his head, leaving him to live with his dishonor. Following this, Krishna and Rukmani were married in Dwaraka amidst great celebration and divine blessings. Their union is celebrated as a symbol of divine love and devotion, exemplifying the power of true devotion and the lengths to which the divine will go to protect and honor it.
